- One click full site backup. Akeeba Backup backs up your site files and your site database in one go. It can even backup non-Joomla! scripts and their MySQL databases along with your Joomla! site, without any compromise! It will even include a restoration script inside the archive (similar in function to the standard Joomla! installer) to make restoring your site a piece of cake.
- Robust operation. Basing its function on a robust AJAX-powered interface, Akeeba Backup will chunk the backup operation in order to avoid the server timing out, even with multi-gigabyte sites. Akeeba Backup supports backing up and restoring MySQL TABLES (MyISAM, InnoDB, FEDERATED, MERGE, TEMPORARY, etc), VIEWs, PROCEDUREs, FUNCTIONs, TRIGGERs. It also supports backing up and restoring symbolic links ("symlinks") in JPA and ZIP archives.
- Restoration made easy. Akeeba Backup offers the Kickstart tool to ease the restoration procedure, even if you face a complete site destruction! In a nutshell, all you have to do is upload two files: Kickstart and your backup archive. Kickstart will take care of everything else, including getting rid of itself and the backup archive when the restoration procedure is over.
- Move your site between hosts. Do you want to move your site to a new hosting service? Would you like to set up a staging site, an exact clone of your live site where you can test new components and layouts? Do you want to debug a site without putting it offline? Akeeba Backup comes to the rescue! With its renowned technology it is able to restore your site on a different host than the one the backup was taken from, even on a different platform (e.g. from a Linux host running Apache to a Windows Server host running IIS).
- Rich collection of filters. Akeeba Backup is able to exclude individual files and directories, or database tables. The selection process is done with a graphical interface, unlike our competition. With Akeeba Backup's "front-end backup mode" you can schedule backup to happen automatically (external tools such as cron and wget are required). For the power user, Akeeba Backup Professional offers a true command-line interface which doesn't even need your web server to be running when taking the backup. Worried about reaching your storage quota? Akeeba Backup can remove old backups based on their number or size if you'd like! Picky host with a restriction on the maximum size of a single file? Use split ZIP and split JPA to work around it! Don't even want to launch a browser? No problem, you can use our Akeeba Remote Control application to backup your site - and download the archive - from your desktop, with a single click.
- Easy backup administration. Akeeba Backup keeps a log of each and every backup attempt you made. Based on this information it allows you to download, delete or restore the backup. Multiple backup profiles allow you to create different backup sets, for example allowing you to have a "light" daily backup and a "fully loaded" weekly one. Akeeba Backup is self-documenting by means of extensive use of tooltips crammed with information, in case you get stuck in one of its fine-tuning options.

You can use it on as many (or as few) sites as you want, without any further obligation. We are so confident on our code quality that we offer free, zero-day support through our support forum. This means that should you have any problem or question regarding Akeeba Backup you can post it there and our support personnel will respond within a calendar day. That's right! We even support you on weekends and holidays!
If you want full control and power, you can subscribe to our low cost Akeeba Backup Professional download and get a full year of updates.
